Perseverance

God preserves His people so that true believers continue in faith and are brought safely to the end.

Formal Definition

Perseverance is the gracious preservation and sustained endurance of believers by which they continue in Christ through faith, repentance, and obedience.

Explanation

Perseverance is not self-powered tenacity. It is the faithfulness of God working in and through the faithful endurance of His people. Warnings in Scripture are real means God uses to keep believers watchful and dependent.
