Attributes of God
The attributes of God describe what God is like according to Scripture.
Formal Definition
The attributes of God are the perfections of His being revealed in Scripture, including holiness, love, justice, wisdom, faithfulness, and power.
Key Scriptures
Exodus 34:6–7
Psalm 145:8–9
Isaiah 6:1–5
1 John 4:8
Psalm 145:8–9
Isaiah 6:1–5
1 John 4:8
Explanation
God’s attributes are not detachable parts but the fullness of who He is. His love is holy love, His justice is wise justice, and His power is righteous power. Theology becomes distorted whenever one attribute is emphasized in a way that diminishes another.
